Stage Band:
There is a Stage Band rehearsal today at 1:16.

Math Challengers:
The Math Challengers meeting has been postponed until next week, Thursday January 26th as Miss Cottier will be away at a Google Conference. Be sure to be trying out questions in your blue duo tangs to bring to the next session.

Craft Club: Today at 1:16- 1:56 at room 125.

Judo: Judo club after school today in MPR at 3:30 pm

Canteen today: On sale at recess -cookies, smoothies, mac & cheese.

Canteen tomorrow: Popcorn sold every Wednesday at first recess. Popcorn $1.50,

Bake Sale: January 25th there will be a bake sale to raise funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Help support this great cause by purchasing treats or by giving a donation.

Have you pre-ordered your 2016/2017 ROMS yearbook yet?!?  Don't miss out on your opportunity to guarantee yourself a yearbook delivered to your homeroom class in June.  Order forms available from the office, Miss Cottier, and the Royal Oak website.  Grade 8 Students- Be sure to email your photo to Miss Cottier by March 10th!

SPCA Fund raiser: Please help fill our donation box!! We are collecting donations of old blankets, old towels and pet toys. Donation drop off box is located outside the office and room 223.



All players are reminded to hand in their permission forms to Mr. Menzies ASAP. The season starts for competitive teams next week and players will not be permitted to play if they that have not submitted these forms.

This week's practice schedule is posted on the ROMS Athletics web page. Go tot he Royal Oak home page and click on the eagle head to view.

Teams practicing tomorrow morning are Mr. Phillips grade 7 girls team at 7:30am, and Ms. Espedido's grade 6 girls at 8:00.  

Game schedules are almost finished and will be posted on lowerislandschoolsports.ca soon. Players are encouraged to discuss transportation arrangements to and from away games this week so that teams are prepared to travel to another school.

Intra murals:
Attention grade 8 students - Mac Attack intra-murals will continue tomorrow.

Did you also know he Amazon rain forest produces half the world's oxygen supply. That is a lot of oxygen!

1) Today's weather calls for cloudy skies with rain showers and a high of 7 degrees. The forecast tells us that we will be having more rain showers tomorrow with a high of 9 degrees as well! Keep your coats on for a few more days!

2) Ms. Mah's Boston terrier puppy went shopping on the weekend and got 5 new outfits. Be sure to ask Ms. Mah to see photos of Bosco's new wardrobe.

3) The count down is in the final days. The Inauguration of the United States President Elect, Donald Trump, will be in 3 days!

4) Grade 8's ! The “Yes To It” field trip in on next week! Make sure you have your FT permission form in!

5) Yearbooks are on sale! Make sure you are on the list. Check with your teacher!

6) Grade 8 Intramural! The world famous Mac Attack is on tomorrow! Be sure to come out and watch this exciting action in the gym!

7) Have you seen the big box in the hallway? This is where you can donate old blankets and towels to the SPCA . Be sure to do your part to help out animals in need.

8) Reminder, when you come to school late, be sure to sign in at the office so you are not marked absent.

9) Did you hear about the boy who had a dream? He had a dream where he was forced to eat a giant marshmallow. When he woke up, his pillow was gone.

Yearbook Orders: The 2016/2017 ROMS Yearbook is now available for Pre-Order! Yearbooks are 128 full colour pages with over 2,000 images from athletics, events, and many memories!  Last year's book sold out in June so please be sure you pre-order and guarantee yourself a book delivered directly to your homeroom in June!  The cost of this year's book is $38. Grade 8 students have until March 10th to email a baby photo to Miss Cottier (ecottier@sd63.bc.ca).

Presentation By: Stu Rhodes, Career Counsellor and Apprenticeship Coordinator - Parents are invited to attend the general PAC meeting on Thursday, January 19th. Stu Rhodes will be speaking during a portion of the meeting on the opportunities available to students in the trades area. Stu Rhodes is a District Career Counsellor in Trades Industry training and works closely with Camosun College and local business owners. Parents are encouraged to attend as this is an excellent opportunity to learn about trades programs and career paths offered in carpentry, electrical, mechanics and Professional Cooks Training.

Country Grocer receipts: Save your receipts as PAC can earn gift cards to Country Grocer. The collection envelope is hanging by the PAC Bulletin Board at school.

COBS bread: PAC participates in the COBS bread fund raising program. Mention Royal Oak when you go in and 5% will go back to our school with every purchase.

Tru Value Grocery Store in Cordova Bay: Please mention Royal Oak, number 37. Tru Value donates a portion of every transaction to the local community.
