Morning Radio News @ 9:05 am

Judo: Judo training resumes Tuesday after school in the Multi-Purpose Room.

Popcorn: Popcorn is on sale in the Canteen at morning recess today.

France 2017: All students traveling to France please meet in Mme. Ryan's room for a brief meeting today at 1:16.

Games Club: The Games Club will be meeting in Room 125 at 1:16 pm.

Conversation and Activities Club:

Conversations Club in Rm 227 today at 1:16 , bring a friend and join in conversation, games and snacks. See Ms. Beristain for more information.

SPCA Fund raiser: Please help fill our donation box!! We are collecting donations of old blankets, old towels and pet toys. Donation drop off box is located outside the office.

Canteen Tuesday: On sale at recess -chocolate chip cookies, smoothies and mac and cheese.



This week's volleyball practice schedule has been posted on the ROMS Athletics web page. Go tot he Royal Oak home page and click on the eagle head logo to view.

All volleyball players are reminded to hand in their permission forms to Mr. Menzies as soon as possible. The season starts for competitive teams next week so be sure to have everything handed in.

Teams practicing today are: The grade 8 boys recreational team and the grade 6/7 boys recreation al team at SECOND recess. Please be there on time and ready to practice by 1:20 today.

Practicing after school is Ms. McManus' grade 8 girls competitive team.

Did you know that the most commonly forgotten item for travelers is their toothbrush. Keep that in mind when you go on your next trip!

Did you also know apples are more effective at waking you up in the morning than coffee. Teachers make sure you have your apple every morning!

1) Today's weather calls for cloudy skies with rain showers and a high of 6 degrees. Much warmer than last week!. The forecast tells us that we will be much the same weather tomorrow with a high of 6 degrees as well!

2) The School bottle drive is now over! A big thank you to everyone who donated bottles to our school! The Parent group is still calculating the results!

3) Ms. Mah's new Boston terrier puppy has learned two new words this weekend. The words are ruff & ruff. Well done Bosco!

4) The Inauguration of the United States President Elect, Donald Trump, will be in 4 days! Mr Trump will the USA's 45th president.

5) Grade 8's! If you have not brought in your Claremont field trip permission form, you are now late with this task.

6) Yearbooks are on sale! Be sure to order yours as you do not want be without one come June! All orders come to the office.

7) The RO Hoodie orders are now complete. If you have questions with your order, see Mr. M in the gym.

8) Grade 8 Intramural! The world famous Mac Attack is on this Wednesday! Be sure to come out and watch this exciting action in the gym!

9) Have you seen the big box in the hallway? This is where you can donate old blankets and towels to the SPCA to help out dogs in need.

Yearbook Orders: The 2016/2017 ROMS Yearbook is now available for Pre-Order! Yearbooks are 128 full colour pages with over 2,000 images from athletics, events, and many memories!  Last year's book sold out in June so please be sure you pre-order and guarantee yourself a book delivered directly to your homeroom in June!  The cost of this year's book is $38. Grade 8 students have until March 10th to email a baby photo to Miss Cottier (ecottier@sd63.bc.ca).

Presentation By: Stu Rhodes, Career Counsellor and Apprenticeship Coordinator - Parents are invited to attend the general PAC meeting on Thursday, January 19th. Stu Rhodes will be speaking during a portion of the meeting on the opportunities available to students in the trades area. Stu Rhodes is a District Career Counsellor in Trades Industry training and works closely with Camosun College and local business owners. Parents are encouraged to attend as this is an excellent opportunity to learn about trades programs and career paths offered in carpentry, electrical, mechanics and Professional Cooks Training.

Country Grocer receipts: Save your receipts as PAC can earn gift cards to Country Grocer. The collection envelope is hanging by the PAC Bulletin Board at school.

COBS bread: PAC participates in the COBS bread fundraising program. Mention Royal Oak when you go in and 5% will go back to our school with every purchase.
