Ms. Fuller's PE Classes:
For this week, get changed, bring your duo tang and a pencil and line up outside the MPR.

France Trip 2017: All grade 8 students going to France this year, please meet in Mme Ryan's room today at 1:16

Anyone interested in playing chess at lunch can come to room 130 on today during the lunch recess.  All students and skill levels are welcome.

Chill Zone will be happening same time and same place today. Please come down and join us.

Math Challengers: A reminder to the Grade 8 Math challengers group that we are meeting today (Thursday) at lunch to review questions for the competition at Camosun in February.  Please bring your blue booklets with you to practice.

Eagles Club: Eagles club meets on today at 11:40 (block 3) in the green conference room. Bring your lunch. See Ms. Noel if you have any questions.

Grade 8 Farewell Theme Results: Paris-75 votes, Beach Party-113 votes.

SPCA Fund raiser: Please help fill our donation box!! We are collecting donations of old blankets, old towels and pet toys. Donation drop off box is located outside the office.

Pizza Day tomorrow - $2.50 per slice

Canteen today: On sale at recess -chocolate chip cookies, smoothies and burritos. Cookies, smoothies, burritos.


The opening games of volleyball season are getting close, and the season is right around the corner. Players are reminded to hand their permission forms into Mr. Menzies ASAP!

Teams practicing today are: Mr. Kenny's grade 8 boys Recreational team at SECOND recess, and Ms. Robson and Ms. Blaikie's grade 7 girls team also at SECOND recess. Please be in the gym ready to play by 1:20 today.

ROMS Hoodies:
Today is the final day to hand in order forms to get a Royal Oak hoodie. Please swing by the PE office and talk to Mr. Menzies for details and to try on a size sample. Order forms are due no later than 3:30pm today.

1) Today's weather calls for sunny skies and a high of 2 degrees. Much warmer than yesterday. The forecast tells us that we will be having cloudy skies tomorrow with a high of 3 degrees.

2) The School bottle drive is still on! tell your parents that they can donate bottles to the school today and tomorrow only. They can also drop bottles off at the Bottle Depot and say they are for RO.

3) Ms. Mah's new Boston terrier puppy has 8 naps per day! That almost ties the record with Mr. Lloyd!

4) The Inauguration of the United States President Elect, Donald Trump, will hbe in 9 days!

5) Have you lost your PE gym strip, water bottle or running shoes? The L & F is a great place to look!

7) Grade 8's! Be sure to return your Claremont field trip permission forms to by Friday's due date.

8) Yearbooks are on sale! Bring your YB order to the office!

9) The world famous RO Hoodies are on sale once again. If you want one, see Mr. Menzies in the gym for sizing and ordering.

10) Pizza Day is coming this Friday! Remember your money!

Yearbook Orders: The 2016/2017 ROMS Yearbook is now available for Pre-Order! Yearbooks are 128 full colour pages with over 2,000 images from athletics, events, and many memories!  Last year's book sold out in June so please be sure you pre-order and guarantee yourself a book delivered directly to your homeroom in June!  The cost of this year's book is $38. Grade 8 students have until March 10th to email a baby photo to Miss Cottier (ecottier@sd63.bc.ca).

PAC Review:

A reminder to Parents of the 2017 Vancouver Island Parent Conference to be held on February 25, 2017 from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm at Royal Bay Secondary School in Colwood. Please see our School Calendar of Events on our main school website for further details.

PAC Bottle Drive:

There are many ROMS school projects that require PAC funding during the remainder of this school year. The PAC Is hosting a bottle drive from Jan 3-13 and they need our help. Please collect your returnable bottles/cans over the next few weeks and then consider donating them to the ROMS PAC to help support programs in our school.

ROMS Bottle Drive - January 3-13, 2017

Bring in your recyclable bottles between 8:30 am and 3:20 pm drop off at gated area near the sport courts.

You can also drop off all year at the Bottle depot. Please say


·All Funds raised will go directly to support school programs paid for by the PAC such as the costs of Home Ec aprons and athletic uniforms, etc.

Presentation By: Stu Rhodes, Career Counsellor and Apprenticeship Coordinator - Parents are invited to attend the general PAC meeting on Thursday, January 19th. Stu Rhodes will be speaking during a portion of the meeting on the opportunities available to students in the trades area. Stu Rhodes is a District Career Counsellor in Trades Industry training and works closely with Camosun College and local business owners. Parents are encouraged to attend as this is an excellent opportunity to learn about trades programs and career paths offered in carpentry, electrical, mechanics and Professional Cooks Training.
