For this week, get changed, bring your duo tang and a pencil and line up outside the MPR.

Judo: There is no Judo today.  Winter training will begin next Tuesday, January 17th after school in the Multi-Purpose Room.

Stage Band:
There is a Stage Band rehearsal today at 1:16 in the Band room. New members are still welcome!

Band Sectionals:
There is a Percussion sectional today at 12:47. Please bring your lunch. 

France Trip 2017: All grade 8 students going to France this year, please meet on Thursday Jan.12 in Mme Ryan's room.

Craft Club: Today at 1:16- 1:56 at room 125.

Canteen today On sale at recess -chocolate chip cookies, smoothies, mac & cheese.

Canteen tomorrow: Popcorn sold every Wednesday at first recess. Popcorn $1.50,



There will be a very important meeting for all grade 7 girls playing on Ms. Robson's and Mrs Blaikie's volleyball team today at SECOND recess in Ms. Robson's room. All grade 7 girls who are interested in playing on this team must attend. Please be there by 1:20 after advisory today.

Grade 7 girls playing on Mr. Philips grade 7 team are reminded of their practice tomorrow morning at 7:30.

Grade 8 teams are reminded to hand in their player package permission forms to Mr. Menzies in the PE office ASAP!

ROMS Hoodies:
Hoodie orders are again available this week for those students and staff who missed the first order. Order forms and size samples are available in the PE office and are due by the end of the school day this Thursday January 12th. See Mr. Menzies for further details.

Intra-Murals: Notice to all grade 8's - Mac Attack intra-murals Wednesday in the gym. All 8's welcome.

Did you know that french fries are originally came from Belgium. That's odd!

Did you also know the Arctic Ocean is the smallest in the world. Who would have thought?

1) Today's weather calls for cloudy skies with rain showers and only with a high of 1 degrees. The forecast tells us that we will be having sunny skies tomorrow but with a cold temperature of 0 degrees. Remember your hat and gloves!

2) This is the last week of the PAC bottle drive. Please tell our parents and friends that they can donate bottles to the school. All monies raised go towards items we need in the school.

3) ROMS Volleyball! Keep listening for your practice and game times on the morning announcements.

4) Ms. Mah's Boston terrier puppy has just been accepted into the Harvard junior high achievers club. Bosco will be attending his first university summer camp in July. Well done Bosco!

5) The Inauguration of the USA President Elect, Donald Trump, will be in 11 days. Keep a eye on that big event.

6) Have you lost your PE gym strip or running shoes? If so you know where to go! The custodians find PE items every day in the change rooms and gym.

7) Grade 8's! Be sure to return your “Yes To It” field trip permission forms to your teacher today. This form counts for a 3 field trips to Claremont.

8) If you are not aware, Year books are on sale! Check the posters in the hall and the TV screen for details.

Yearbook Orders: The 2016/2017 ROMS Yearbook is now available for Pre-Order! Yearbooks are 128 full colour pages with over 2,000 images from athletics, events, and many memories!  Last year's book sold out in June so please be sure you pre-order and guarantee yourself a book delivered directly to your homeroom in June!  The cost of this year's book is $38. Grade 8 students have until March 10th to email a baby photo to Miss Cottier (ecottier@sd63.bc.ca).

PAC Review:

A reminder to Parents of the 2017 Vancouver Island Parent Conference to be held on February 25, 2017 from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm at Royal Bay Secondary School in Colwood. Please see our School Calendar of Events on our main school website for further details.

PAC Bottle Drive:

There are many ROMS school projects that require PAC funding during the remainder of this school year. The PAC Is hosting a bottle drive from Jan 3-13 and they need our help. Please collect your returnable bottles/cans over the next few weeks and then consider donating them to the ROMS PAC to help support programs in our school.

Bring in your recyclable bottles between 8:30 am and 3:20 pm drop off at gated area near the sport courts.

You can also drop off all year at the Bottle depot. Please say


·All Funds raised will go directly to support school programs paid for by the PAC such as the costs of Home Ec aprons and athletic uniforms, etc.

Presentation By: Stu Rhodes, Career Counsellor and Apprenticeship Coordinator - Parents are invited to attend the general PAC meeting on Thursday, January 19th. Stu Rhodes will be speaking during a portion of the meeting on the opportunities available to students in the trades area. Stu Rhodes is a District Career Counsellor in Trades Industry training and works closely with Camosun College and local business owners. Parents are encouraged to attend as this is an excellent opportunity to learn about trades programs and career paths offered in carpentry, electrical, mechanics and Professional Cooks Training.
