Today is BC School Library Day and the Drop Everything and Read Challenge!

To celebrate school libraries and the freedom to read, ROMS students will participate in the 10th annual Drop Everything and Read Challenge! Last year over 70,000 students participated in BC. This year the goal is to have 100,000 students participating.

Visit the Learning Commons BEFORE 11:00 if you don't already have a book to read. 

Remember, today at 11:00, ROMS Students and Staff will get comfortable and . . . Drop Everything and


Miss Cottier and Ms. Smyth are happy to announce that we were able to obtain 12 more tickets to WE Day.  The new list of selected participants will be outside our classroom doors by lunch recess.  Please ensure that you get a permission form ASAP.  All We Day Forms need to be received by November 1st.

Games Club: The Games Club will be meeting in Room 125 at 1:16 pm.


The cross country team practices tomorrow morning.  Please remember to bring in your transportation form for Thursday's race.

Reminder to all basketball teams that the practice schedule has changed this week due to the Halloween fundraiser set up in the gym. In addition, players are reminded to hand their permission forms into Mr. Menzies as soon as tomorrow. Please see him if you need another copy of the permission package. Teams practising today are: Grade 7/8 boys rec  and grade 6/7 girls comp at lunch recess, and grade 6/7 boys rec after school.

Good afternoon Royal Oak! Here is your TV News stories for Monday, October 24th

Did you know the scariest Haunted walk in Saanich will be the Royal Oak Screamfest! Be sure to come!

There are now 3 days until Screamfest 2016! Get your tickets fast! Remember students need to have parents attend as this is a family event! The Haunted Walk is well worth the experience! Definitely scary! The Friday night event only has 25 tickets left. Get your ticket before they sell out!

1) Reminder to students that there is to be no photo taking on school grounds with your phones.

2) As of this week, ROMS News will not broadcast on Fridays as it is much too busy with pizza day!

3) A great job with “Drop Everything and Read event today! Well done Royal Oak!

4) There is a very special Guest News Anchor is coming to ROMS TV on Thursday. Stay tuned to see who it is!! All we can say it will be a very interesting News cast!

5) Purdy's chocolate orders are coming your way to take home. All orders are on line. No orders come back to the school. This is PAC fund raiser!

6) Remember to bring in your canned food items for “Scare the Hunger” campaign. Let's do our part to change our world!

Home work Club. Extra support will be available to students on the following days:

Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays from 8:00-9:00 am in Room 215 and

Tuesdays & Thursdays from 3:08-4:08 pm in Room 215
