Math Contest: Any student interested in writing the Canadian National Mathematics Contest is encouraged to write in the Learning Commons today. Grade 6 are writing in Block 1, Grade 7 in Block 2, and Grade 8 in Block 3. Certificates will be awarded for the top students in each Grade. Please bring a pencil, eraser, and calculator if you plan to write.
Pink Shirt Day: Anti Bullying Day - On Wednesday February 24th, wear pink to support anti-bullying day. A limited number of shirts will be on sale at first recess this week, outside the office for $10
Canteen today: Cookies 75 cents, smoothies 50 cents
Gr 6 Girls Volleyball: There will be an important meeting for all gr 6 girls on ROMS 1 regarding your transportation to today's game at Arbutus. Please meet Mr. Menzies in the gym at morning recess to discuss. That's gr 6 girls ROMS 1, meeting at morning recess today in the gym.
GR 6-7 Girls Volleyball: Congratulations to the Grade 6/7 Competitive Girls Volleyball ROMS #1 team who are currently in top place in their league. They have an impressive 17 set wins and are undefeated in matches. Go Eagles!!!
Gr 6/7 Basketball Intra murals: Welcome to week three of the grade 6/7 basketball intra murals. Today's match ups are:
The Golden Potatoes (M3) vs. Dab City (M5), and The Kardashians (7-3) vs. The Smythinators (7-1). Players are reminded to be in the gym wearing PE strip by 1:20 today.
Ping Pong: Notice to all grade 8's and teachers that signed up for ping pong - tournament brackets and schedules are up around the school; check for your game date.

Band Sectionals: All grade 6 clarinetists have sectionals today during lunch activity in the band room.
Jazz Band: There will be a jazz band rehearsal on Wednesday, Feb. 17 during lunch activity in the band room.

Mental Health Awareness Day: Reminder to all students and staff to wear your brightest colours on Thursday, February 18th in an effort to raise awareness and support for mental health in our community and our school.
Science Challengers: Do you enjoy science and math? Would you like to explore and study areas beyond the curriculum? Are you willing to join a team and compete against students from other schools? If so, please come to an important meeting on Thursday at lunch activity in room 130. All grades welcome
Royal Oak Eagles Athletic Clothing is now for sale. Support your school's athletic programs by purchasing Eagles athletic clothing! Order forms can be found just outside the PE office, and at the front entrance to the school. Also, swing by the Gym at morning and lunch recess to try on sizes. All orders are due by Tuesday February 23rd.
Yearbook: ROMS 2015/2016 Yearbook is now available for Pre-Order! Yearbooks are 128 pages of full colour awesomeness!! This year the book will contain over 2,000 photos from anything from athletics, to extra-curricular, to random moments caught on camera! Books are $35 and forms are available from Miss Cottier and on her homework website! Grade 8's have until March 11th to email a baby photo!

Bottle Depot Account: The grade 8 farewell committee has setup an account at the Bottle Depot. Parents can drop off their recycling to any of the 3 Bottle Depot locations. YOU MUST REFERENCE our "Royal Oak PAC account" PRIOR to the start of them ringing up your recycling. There will also be a bottle drive at the beginning of April and all proceeds will go to benefit the grade 8 farewell. Thanks to all families for your support.
