Morning Radio News @ 9:05 am

Clay Club: There will be no clay club today at lunch. The last two clay club sessions will be Jan 13 and Jan 20th. Hope to see you there!

Grade 8s:  Reminder to return your permission form to attend transition activities at Claremont to your homeroom teacher by Friday.

Jazz Band: There will be a jazz band rehearsal today during lunch activity in the band room.

ROMS SPORTS

Volleyball: Volleyball practices have started up again this week. Teams practicing tomorrow are Grade 8 girls ROMS 1 and ROMS 3 at 7:30am in the morning, all grade 6 girls at lunch recess, and all grade 7 boys after school. Please see the practice schedule on the door of the PE office for a copy of the schedule.

Judo Club: The Royal Oak Judo Club is starting spring training Thursday after school from 3:15 until 4:30 in the Multi-Purpose Room. New members are welcome.

Flute Sectionals: All grade 6 flute players have sectionals on Jan. 7 during lunch activity.

Recycling: Please ensure you are sorting recycleable items into the correct bin at the recycle station.

Grade 8 Farewell Planning: If you have ideas for the theme of the grade 8 year end farewell, please put the idea on a slip of paper in the PAC box next to the PAC bulletin board before Friday. Parents have a planning meeting on January 13th and are asking for student's ideas for a celebration theme.  Grade 8 students will vote on the celebration theme sometime in the new year.

Parents & PAC Royal Oak Review @ noon:

The PAC general meeting this month will be held on Wednesday, January 20th at 7 pm in the Learning Commons at ROMS. Plan to attend as the agenda includes proposed spending by PAC for the remainder of the school year. A vote will be held to approve funding for staff requests.

There is a fantastic opportunity for parents to attend the Vancouver Island Parent Conference (vipc.ca). This one day event is exceptional and planning is done by School District 62 and 61 PACS. Check out the vipc website. The location this year is at the new Royal Bay Secondary on Saturday, Feb 27. Register online by Feb 10th for the early bird rate.
