Morning Radio News @ 9:05 am

DEAR: Today, from 11:00 - 11:23 will be our DEAR (Drop Everything and Read!) event at ROMS. Everyone in our school will have the opportunity to take a short break from busy schedules to read.  As you read, take a moment to think about the privilege of reading for pleasure and the role reading plays in your learning.  Thank you for celebrating BC School Libraries/Learning Commons, literacy and learning. 

Grade 8 Gear: There are two days left to order your grade 8 gear. Orders are due by the end of the day on Tuesday, October 27th. Orders can be done online or there are order forms on the PAC bulletin board at school.

ROMS SPORTS

Grade 6/7 competitive boys basketball:  Reminder to all grade 6/7 competitive boys basketball players of their practice at lunch recess today. Please be there at 1:20pm and be ready to play.

Grade 8 girls competitive basketball:  The grade 8 girls competitive basketball team has a home exhibition game today after school vs Glanford. Players should be ready to play by 3:20pm.

Intra-murals: Reminder to divisions 8-3, 8-4, 8-6 of their intra-mural soccer game Wednesday at lunch. 

Grade 6/7 Boys Soccer: Congrats to the Grade 6/7 Boys Soccer Team on their undefeated season this year. Last Thursday, the boys finished their season with a 1 all draw against Glanford and a 3-1 victory over Lansdowne. Great work boys - strong play by all!!  Stay tuned to the announcements for details of our possible scrimmage against the grade 8 boys and our Pizza Party! 

Band: All grade 6 flute players have sectionals tomorrow during lunch activity.

Band: All grade 6 trumpet students have sectionals on Thurs, Oct. 29 during lunch activity.

Family Fright Night: Don’t forget there will be lots of prizes for costumes and for the Ultimate Halloween Cupcake Contest.  To enter the contest, just bake and decorate  6 – 12 cupcakes  (No Nuts!!), label your entry with your name, grade & category, bring your cupcakes to the Home Ec. Room Thurs. Oct 29th morning or after school or bring them directly to the event that evening.  All cupcakes must be received by 6:15 pm October 29th for judging. 

Parents & PAC Royal Oak Review @ noon:

A huge thank you to everyone who has purchased tickets and/or offered to volunteer for this Thursday’s Family Fright Night. For those still needing tickets, you can purchase them at the door starting at 6pm on October 29th.

Royal Oak will be conducting a lock down drill on November 26 at 10:00 am.  It is important to practice these types of situations to prepare our students so they are familiar with the expected procedures in case of an emergency.
