February is Random Acts of Kindness Month - do something nice for no reason at all!

Morning Announcements:

Congratulations to Sophie S. in 6-3! Sophie won 1st place in Class D in the Royal Commonwealth Essay Contest and was the only winner on the Island. We're proud of you Sophie. Wahoo!

Today we say
Goodbye to our students from Brazil. Thank you for visiting us here at Royal Oak and for sharing your experiences and talents. We look forward to hearing even more great things about you in the future! The Brazilian students and their buddies will celebrate with a BBQ at lunch today.

Block 1, M-5 PE class will be held in Ms. Smyth's room #231 today.

Pizza day today with M-4 helping during Advisory. Order called to canteen: 6/7 blue, 8, 6/7 green.

Sports:
Congratulations to both Miss Cottier and Mr.  Goy's 6/7 boys competitive volleyball teams for their outstanding games played yesterday! Miss Cottier's team had a huge 25-22 playoff victory against central and Mr Goy's team had three big wins over John Stubbs and Journey! Well done boys!

  • There will be a Grade 8 boys rugby practice today at 3:30. Please see Mr. Stanchfield if you are unable to attend.

  • There will be rugby practices on Tuesday, March 4 and Wednesday, March 5 for all Grade 6, 7 and 8 boys. If you have not signed up, please see Mr. Stanchfield ASAP.

  • Any girls still interested in playing rugby this year, please see Ms. Robson. All ages and abilities welcome!

  • The Grade 8 boys volleyball team is playing for first place on Monday at home. Come cheer them on!

  • There will be a volleyball game on Tuesday at lunch between the Grade 6/7 boys and 6/7 girls!

  • The Island Swimming Championship is this Sunday from 9-3 at the Commonwealth pool.

  • All swim club members who are planning on attending the Championship this weekend need to see Ms. Robson today.

  • Grade 7 boys volleyball team players are to hand in their uniforms to Ms. Espedido today, please.

Thunder and our School Liaison Police Officers sport their 'Think Pink' attitude on the front page of the School District 63 website. Check it out!

Grade 8 parents can book a 15 minute interview with a Claremont Counsellor on Monday, March 3 or Tuesday, March 4th. Please call 250-479-7128 local 459 between 9:30 and 2:30 pm to book an interview at Royal Oak Middle School. The purpose of this interview is to answer questions not addressed in the Course Selection package.
