Today is our final Mini X session. The block order for today is: Block 1, 3, 4 then Mini X after lunch. Students are to go straight to their Mini X session right after the 1:55 bell that ends lunch activity.
Students going to Water Polo and Teen Leadership need to meet at the front of the school at 1:30.
Students participating in the Judo Mini-X please meet Mr. Mollard in the Multi-Purpose Room at 1:30 (or earlier) to set up mats and get your uniforms.
Our Canadian Flag is at Half Mast today. We are joining schools and government offices across Canada in flying our Canadian Flag at half mast today in honour of Nelson Mandela. Mr. Mandela was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, politician, and philanthropist who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. His funeral will be on Sunday.
Teachers, please put your blue paper recycling box outside your classroom at the beginning of Block 3.
All recycling towers are to be emptied today and washed out. This is the end of our recycling for 2013 and we'll begin again when we return in January.
Congratulations Royal Oak on another successful toy drive! We delivered over 230 toys and over 100 books to the Zone FM Annual Toy Drive, which helps over 500 families at Christmas! A special thanks to the students who came in extra early to help stuff the cars and deliver the toys. A special thanks to Ms Louwe (who already had delivered 100 toys this morning), Ms Smyth and Ms Morgan for coming early to deliver the toys! Any toys that come in later today will be dropped off at the Mustard Seed by Ms. Morgan.
Congratulations to the 6/7 boys competitive basketball team on their win last night! They finished the season 3rd in the city!
Reminder to all Grade 7 and 8 boys interested in trying out for volleyball this year. Tryouts for both teams are today after school, and Monday morning at 7:45.
Boys and girls interested in trying out for the 6/7 competitive volleyball teams have a skills workshop on Monday and Tuesday at 3:15. Tryouts to follow.

The Brass Quintet will be putting on a concert in the MPR room during lunch activity today. This is Mr. Ziegler's group and is called Brasstastic and we will be playing a mix of holiday, movie and jazz music. All students and staff are welcome to come to the MPR and enjoy this concert.
Swim Club: No practices next week, your next practice will be when you return to school in January. Practice that week will be Jan 7 and 9 at 7:30 am at the Saanich Commonwealth Pool.
Lost and Found: please check for your missing items. All items will be given to a charity next week.
Recycling - Next week we have no recycling as we are cleaning up for the holidays. Students will be asked to take recyclable items home for recycling. Thanks for your support!
