On Thursday, we will celebrate Remembrance Day or it's also known as Armistice Day. November 11th is a memorial day observed since the end of World War I to remember the members of the armed forces who have died in the line of duty.

We wear poppies as a sign of remembrance. Poppies will be sold and handed out tomorrow. Please bring a donation
tomorrow for the Poppy fund. This fund supports ex-servicemen and their families.

Friday - is a Professional Development Day for the staff  so there will not be school in session.

Halloween for Hunger - Congratulations Royal Oak  - You brought in over 600 pieces of non-perishable food items for the food bank. Well done. A special thank you to Ms Smyth's class who brought in over 100 pieces in their class alone! Creepy Corridor (that the blue floor on the grass side) you won with over 240 pieces! Your teacher has your treat!


Sports:

  • Grade 7/8 Boys competitive team has a game today at Dunsmuir at 3:45.

  • Grade 7/8 Girls competitive team has a game today at Dunsmuir at 5:15.

  • Grade 6/7 Boys competitive team has a home game tomorrow at 3:45. Come cheer them on!

  • Reminder to the grade 8 boys recreational basketball team of their practice Thursday at lunch. See Mr. Stanchfield if you have any questions.

     

  • There will be a meeting for all swim club members on Thursday, November 7th at lunch recess in the gym.


--Basketball Camp on Nov 8th Pro D: Attention all basketball players. There will be a basketball camp taking place at ROMS on Friday, November 8th (Pro-D day). All ages and abilities welcome. Boys camp runs from 9:00-11:30. Girls camp runs from 12:00-2:30. Cost is $25. Please see Ms. Robson to sign up.

Could all cadet members participating in the remembrance day ceremony please meet Mr. Ziegler in the band room at lunch (1:16) today for a rehearsal!

 

A reminder to all choir members that there will be a short rehearsal today during advisory (12:47 - 1:16) in the band room. This rehearsal is of utmost importance as the remembrance day ceremony is tomorrow so please attend. 


Youth in Action meeting at FIRST recess (11.23)  today in Ms Morgan's room

Chess is starting! Every Thursday at lunch recess, all students interested in playing chess are invited to Mr. Azim's room room 122. No experience necessary.

The Lost & Found is overflowing! Come down to the lost & found area and pick-up your clothing.
All items will be sent to a charity at the end of this week.

Remembrance Day ceremony. All parents and family are invited to the school assembly this Thursday at 10:15  

We are giving away the
Lost & Found
items to a Charity on Friday. Please ask your child to take home their clothing before Friday.
